The Ultimate King

By Deaconess Crissy Johns

Wise Choice Ministries theme for March and April is The Kings and Queens of the Bible. When I begin reading and studying.

1 Samuel 8:4-7 (NKJV)So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah 5 They said to him, "You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways, now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have " 6 But when they said, Give us a king to lead us, this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord told him; listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected but they have rejected me as their king. This made me think of when the Israelites were in Egypt with Pharaoh.

Let's read on a little further Samuel 8:8-9 (NKJV), 8 according to all the works which we have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day with which they have forsaken me and served other gods so they are doing you also.9 Now, therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them. this is how I chose the name for this blog The Ultimate King

The Israelites were so busy asking Samuel for a king when they already had the ultimate King that they should have been asking why are we so special and how can we show the Lord how we appreciate Him for all He has done for us. They don't realize that they were God's chosen people after all He had done for them. They were disobedient and ungrateful to God. They just wanted to be like all the other nations, not realizing that they have everything that you could ever want or need in God.

The Israelites were God's chosen people, but it seems God had to do more to show them who they were. We are sometimes like that now. We get ourselves into things and expect God to rescue us but never realize how blessed we are and how we came to be that way. Seems at times reading through the scriptures other nations appreciated God more than the Israelites did. I say we often do that now, were are disobedient to God and He still loves us regardless and allows us to get it right over and over again. Yet we try and replace Him and it is a real big problem for God. There are consequences for doing this. This is why I always say it is so important to have a personal relationship with God. We need to read, study, and fast to be close to the Ultimate King. It doesn't matter how much people try to find someone or something great there is nothing more perfect than the Ultimate King the Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus is King and there is no replacement for him.

I hope this message was helpful and I encourage you to learn and study more about Israel's kings and queens.
