Now is not the time to have an identity crisis!

By Dr. Shana Wise

As Kingdom citizens of heaven, during these trying times in earth, it is imperative that we know

who we are.

Now, many Christians are so caught up in the current events of the world that they forget why God purpose them to be here.

Esther 4:14, For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for

the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

With all that is happening in the world, God has purposed us to be here and to make a difference. But how can we fulfil this task if we do not know who we are and who we belong to?

When someone has an identity crisis, they go through the motions of forever changing but not becoming. Meaning from day to day, who they are may change based on what going on in the

environment. They are not stable in being consistent in their integrity and character.

We serve a God who is Holy. His Word does not change, rather, his Word was given to us to help us change (grow) more into the image of Christ.

God is our Father, and we are his children. Daily we should start resembling our Father more and

more in heaven here on earth as we mature in the Word. Unfortunately, for many of us, we are not looking like Him because our behaviors and characteristics do not reflect who we say we are.

For us to not have an identity crisis, we must identify with our Father. When issues arise in the world, we must go to him and inquire what He sees about the issue. For example, abortion is a

major topic going on here in the USA. Many people are upset and protesting for their right to get an abortion. People who are for abortion say that they are Pro-Choice, while others who are

against abortion identify as Pro-Life. What God revealed to me is that He expects his children to be Pro-God. He also showed me that abortion has to do with the “seed” he purposed to come to

earth. He showed me the issue from His standpoint, not the world’s.

God wants his children to come to him with anything that we don’t understand and that is competing for our identify in Him. There are so many distractions, situations, and circumstances that we get caught up in and we forget that it is all temporary. We are eternal beings housed in a temporary body. All current events are passing, and the end of this era is coming soon. Knowing this information, we must start rising to the occasion of living on purpose! We do not have time to forget who we are and who we belong to because someone else is depending on us for their deliverance from their own identity crisis.

Signs that you may be having an identity crisis:

1. Current events and people have you attention more than God.

2. You are not hearing from God, and you are not changing the way you perceive and

respond to things.

3. The way you conduct yourself cannot be differentiated from the world.

4. You are not using the gift(s) that God has given you.

5. Your natural senses override your spiritual ones.

How do you come out of an identity crisis?

1. Start believing and trusting God more than people and current events.

2. Be intentional to change and grow in Christ.

3. Be intentional on getting rid of the distractions that are competing with your time with

God.

4. Move out of your comfort zone. Start standing out from the crowd instead of blending in

5. Confess the Word about who you are and who God is. Prayers that Rout out Demons

book by John Eckhardt is a great confessional book.
