Kingdom Citizens

By Pastor Wise

WCM Theme scripture for June:

Philippians 3:20-21 NKJV“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”

Hebrews 11:16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

Kingdom Citizens Here on Earth (Introduction)

We must remember that everything here is temporary. Our life, things, situations, circumstance, and even this sin-sick world are passing by. Kingdom citizens always should have the mindset that earth is not our home, our home is heaven.

Question: What does it look like to be a Kingdom citizen?

There are many scriptures in the bible that talk about the Kingdom of God and Heaven. Jesus taught many parables about the Kingdom of God.

Question: Read the scriptures below, what do these scriptures mean to you as it relates to you being a Kingdom citizen?

Mat 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Mat. 12:28, But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Mat 19:23, Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Mark 1:15, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

Mark 10:15, Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”

Mark 9:47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire—

Kingdom Citizens are Ambassadors for Christ

2 Cor. 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

Eph. 6:20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Definition of Ambassador (dictionary.com): 1) a diplomatic official of the highest rank, sent by one sovereign or state to another as its resident representative. 2) a diplomatic official of the highest rank sent by a government to represent it on a temporary mission, as for negotiating a treaty.

We represent and demonstrate The Kingdom of Heaven.

Ambassadors of Christ use their spiritual senses. We can use our senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell), beyond the natural eye, to see in the spirit. This is done through our faith in God and the gifts that He gives us.

Questions:

1) If Jesus was to give you and the global church a rating on our job performance on our ambassadorship duties here on earth from 1-10, with one being the lowest and ten being the highest what rating do you think we would get?

2) How have you been representing the Kingdom of God within your daily life, home, and community?

3) Are you bold when you witness for Christ? What is hindering you from being bold in the Lord? How many people have you led to Christ this year?

Kingdom Citizens are Set Apart

Definition of Sanctification: 1) to make holy; set apart as sacred; consecrate. 2) to purify or free from sin:

Hebrews 2:11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,

1 Corinthians 1:2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Kingdom citizens are called saints of God. What separates a saint from a sinner? Our belief and confession in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Once we make Jesus Lord of our life, he separates us from the world by imparting his Holy Spirit to reside in us.

One of the biggest problems that the church has is that its representatives (ambassadors), cannot be distinguished from the world, or non-believers. If God has set us apart, then it should be evident in the way we live our lives and conduct ourselves. It should not be easy for people to recognize the world's various country ambassadors (China, England, France, etc.) and not be able to recognize the ambassadors for Christ.

Now more than ever we must not only know who we are but represent our King Jesus on earth. Many people are losing hope and dying in sin because we are not operating in our sanctified position in Christ Jesus.

Christ created his children to reign with him in heaven and on earth.

Genesis 1:26-28, Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Questions:

1. What has God set you apart to do for Him? How are you dominating and subduing various things on earth? What more does God have for you to do.

2. What else from these scriptures do you receive as it relates to you being a Kingdom citizen?

Challenge:

I challenge you to operate more in your position as a Kingdom citizen. Cast down the things that are hindering you in fully representing Christ as your Lord and Savior. Go out of your way to minister, pray, witness, and evangelize to someone this week.
